FAQs

FAQs

Good questions,
clear answers.

Everything you might want to know before, during and after a shoot with Capture the Present: booking, the day itself, and how to choose and use your images.

Booking

Getting started.

How do I book a shoot?

Send us a message through the Get in Touch page or email shaun@capturethepresent.com.au. We’ll ask a few questions about what you need, then send a quote and service agreement. Once those are approved, your date is locked in.

How much does a shoot cost?

It depends on what you need. LinkedIn headshots start at $300 + GST. Commercial, event, personal brand and video work is quoted to the brief, so you only pay for what the job requires.

Do you require a deposit?

For larger shoots and first-time clients, a 30% deposit secures your date. The balance is invoiced when your final images are delivered. We accept payment by bank transfer.

Do you travel?

Yes. We shoot on location across Adelaide and regional South Australia. Travel outside the metro area is included in your quote.

Do you shoot video as well as photography?

We do. From brand and event video, we can capture stills and motion from the same shoot. Ask us about combining the two.

The shoot

On the day.

Where do sessions take place?

In our studio at Cog Creative Space, 20 Boskenna Avenue, Norwood, a few minutes from the Adelaide CBD. Or on location: your workplace, a meaningful place, or somewhere that suits your brand.

I hate having my photo taken. Will this work?

Plenty of clients say the same thing before we start. We guide you through every pose and expression, at your pace, so you can relax and simply be yourself.

What should I wear?

What you’d wear to an important meeting in your field, plus a second option in a different tone. Solid colours age better than busy patterns or large logos, and anything you’re comfortable in will show in your face.

Can you photograph our whole team or a large event?

Absolutely. For big events and multi-day conferences we bring in a team of experienced photographers and editors, so coverage stays consistent from the first session to the last.

Are you insured?

Yes. We carry public liability insurance up to $20 million and professional indemnity up to $5 million.

After the shoot

Your images.

How will I receive my images?

For the bulk of our shoots we first send a private preview gallery through an online portal, where you choose your favourites. We then edit your selections and deliver them to a private online gallery at print and web resolution. Event images generally skip the preview step and are edited and delivered straight away.

How long until I get my images?

LinkedIn headshots are delivered within 3–5 business days. For other shoots we agree on a delivery date when we quote, so you know exactly when to expect them.

How long will my gallery stay online?

Your gallery stays live for one month. The expiry date is in your delivery email, and you’ll receive a reminder a week before it closes, so be sure to download everything before then.

Can I use the images anywhere?

Your images are licensed for your own promotional use: website, socials, press and marketing. Copyright stays with Capture the Present. If you’d like to share images with partners, sponsors or other stakeholders, ask us about an additional licence.

Client gallery guide

Choosing your favourites.

Your online gallery lets you favourite the images that mean the most to you, gather them into a list and send that list back to us.

Use one email

Your list is saved under the email address you enter. Use the same one each time you come back.

Photos only

Favourites work for still images. Videos in your gallery can’t be added to a list.

Take your time

Your list saves as you go, so you can close the gallery and pick up where you left off.

01

Start your favourites list

  1. Open your gallery using the link we sent you.
  2. Tap the heart on any photo you love.
  3. The first time, you’ll be asked for your email address. This creates your list.
  4. Keep browsing and heart as many images as you like.
02

Find your list again

  1. Click the heart in the top right corner of the gallery.
  2. If you’ve been signed out, re-enter the email address you used to start your list.
  3. All your lists will appear. Click into one to see the images inside.
03

Leave us a note on a photo

  1. Open your list from the heart in the top right corner.
  2. Hover over (or tap) a favourited photo and choose Add Note.
  3. Type your note and click Save.

Ideal for things like “can this be black and white?” or “this one for the canvas”. Only you and we can see your notes.

04

Make more than one list

  1. Click the heart in the top right corner of the gallery.
  2. Below your existing lists, choose Create a new list.
  3. Give it a name. You can rename any list at any time.

Handy for separating selections: “Website”, “Album”, “Prints for Mum”.

05

Share a list with family or your team

  1. Click the heart in the top right and select the list.
  2. Click the Share icon and send them the link.

If your gallery has a password, they’ll need that too. Anyone with the link can also browse the full gallery, so share it with people you’d happily show everything to.

06

Download your favourites

  1. Click the heart in the top right and select the list.
  2. Click the Download icon and enter your download PIN if asked.

This option appears only when downloads are included with your gallery.

The last step

Let us know you’re done.

When your selections are final, open your list and use the option to send it to us and confirm you’ve finished. If you can’t see it, a quick email telling us your list is ready works just as well. We’ll take it from there.

If something’s not right
My list has disappeared

It’s almost always a different email address. Sign in with the one you used when you first hearted an image.

I can’t heart a video

That’s expected. Favourites are for photos only. Just mention any video notes in your email.

I’m not sure which ones to pick

Start with the images you react to first. Those are usually the right ones.
