Kiratech

Kiratech is an Adelaide software and app development company, working with government, enterprise and founders across health, automotive and waste management. They needed to replace the images on their website and build a bank of pictures deep enough to carry a year of media, covering the executive team, the developers, the consulting work and the workshops, without any of it looking like stock.

Why tech company photography is mostly about people

Software is invisible, which is the whole problem. You can photograph a screen, but nobody feels anything about a screen, so most of the day went to the people writing the code. Three developers lean into one laptop wearing the expression of a problem not yet solved, and in another frame one of them explains something across a table to a colleague whose back is to us. There isn’t a line of code visible in either picture.

The Kiratech team across two time zones

Half of Kiratech’s developers sit overseas, which is a hard thing to write on a website and an easy thing to photograph. In the boardroom frame six remote colleagues fill the wall screen while the Adelaide crew works underneath it, so the room reads as one team rather than a head office with an outsourced tail.
