An incredible at home portrait photography session

Home portrait photography session

An at home photography session can be just as remarkable as a portrait session in a grand outdoor location…

Kim and Ben accepted my offer of a home portrait photography session after recently purchasing a unit in the inner North of Adelaide. Kim and Ben were about to prepare dinner when I arrived, so the brief I delivered was;  ‘Be yourselves and pretend I’m not here’!  With this cue, we captured some incredibly truthful and deep moments of connection between the two.

Their home is a quaint unit that features white walls and tiling. The lounge features prominent double hung windows  that enables stunning atmospheric light to stream through. Know that wispy, dreamy feel you see in some photos? That’s the light I’m referring to! With the gorgeous available light bouncing around the unit, I was free to shoot from all angles.

I shot them preparing dinner as Kim and Ben share a HUGE love and passion for food and cooking. I like to capture mutual interests/loves of the couples I shoot, as it tells the truth behind their connection. Additionally, Milo their little Cavoodle is another one of their great loves. So it was important to capture some heart bursting moments with the little fluffball in the frame. With images based around the joy of food and Milo, I was able to flow from there to capture intimate moments of just Kim and Ben. I took advantage of the warm and moody tones of the light, and was able to centre in on the connection solely between the couple.

During this crazy Covid period…

Whilst I’m aware of what’s allowed during this Cov-eriod, I believe there’s still a space for intimate home portrait sessions. As a creative, I firmly believe it’s crucial to highlight moments of joy, love and happiness in these testing times. I’ve  assessed what I can do during this time in South Australia and I’m confident small portrait sessions are still allowed. See here for current guidelines. However, I absolutely understand the tough financial situations everyone is experiencing. So I’ve taken some time to reflect on what I can truly offer whilst valuing the work I do. How much is a portrait photography package?  Standard packages are $700, but Capture the Present is happy to offer 30% off both Adelaide Portrait Photography AND Adelaide Wedding Photography packages if booked within the next month. The immediate date of the shoot doesn’t have to be set to take into account possibility of further isolation regulations. Just a small deposit is required to confirm the shoot.
